Happy Weekend

pic via here

It has been a cold and rainy start to April for Austin with work-filled days, so I am really looking forward to a weekend filled with sunshine and family time.  Tomorrow is my sister-in-law's baby shower so my Mom and I are traveling to East Texas for the weekend.  To our surprise, we received a phone call yesterday saying she had gone into labor but the doctors have suppressed her contractions and sent her home in the hopes that she can hold the baby a little longer so her lungs can fully develop.  Needless to say, it may be an exciting weekend if the baby decides to come!  My sincerest hopes you have a lovely weekend and if you're in need of a distraction, here are a few links for your viewing pleasure.

Happy Weekend

I am absolutely thrilled to have my big brother, little nephew, niece, AND mom here for the weekend!  We are planning a trip on Saturday to the Texas Hill Country which means picnics in sunshine, wine tasting and antique shopping plus lots of board games and storytelling.  It is always amazing to having them here with me and I'm really looking forward to helping him celebrate his birthday.  Then after they leave on Sunday, one of our favorite people ever is flying in from LA on Monday for two days.  It's definitely going to be a wild weekend, but special nonetheless.  I hope you have a lovely weekend and please enjoy these links from around the web.

Happy Weekend

It is a beautiful day today and I am so happy to be enjoying it outside reading books and planning new projects.  Of course, I've spent most of my free week under the weather (catching up on Season 2 of Girls) or working on my re-upholstery project.  Of the three chairs, one is completely done and I am about 80% happy with it.  Mainly, I have a few more things to learn when it comes to attaching the cording and my paint job on one of the chairs could definitely use some work.  It's been fun, rewarding, and educating so I'm glad that this week has stretched me ability-wise.

I am also really looking forward to enjoying some quality time with my boyfriend this weekend.  We are planning on making a big meal tomorrow, cuddling on the sofa with some movies and will most assuredly be avoiding the SXSW craziness that is occurring around town.  What are your plans for the weekend?  I hope it's lovely and please enjoy these links from around the web...

Happy Weekend

SXSW officially begins today in Austin so traffic is bonkers, funky fashion like the photo above is in full swing and there will be loads of dancing, drinking, discussions, and just all out-partying all over town.  There are literally hundreds of shows around town so the options are endless.  For some Austinites, it's a chance to listen to a ton of their fav bands for free, but for others it's a chaotic mess and they will avoid it like the plague.  I'm definitely planning on checking out a few places this weekend and since next week is Spring Break (and I'm off!), I'll definitely be heading out to a few events. Have a lovely weekend and please enjoy this week's weekly roundup of links.

Happy Friday.

Wow, what a week.  On Tuesday my boyfriend and I celebrated my 31st birthday and it was just an incredibly sweet evening of him showering me with love & affection.  To continue the celebration we're thinking of having a few friends over on Saturday for a barbecue, cake and yard games.  Then on Sunday we plan on stopping by the Farmer's Market for some fresh produce & flowers, followed by a trip to our local succulent shop to use our Groupon. What are your plans for the weekend?  Are there any movies you're anxiously awaiting?  Either way, I hope it's lovely and here are a few links for your browsing pleasure...

Etsy Tuesday: Owl Mania

Owls are still very popular, even though mushrooms, raccoons and birds are fighting for their spot in current trends.  As a result, I thought I'd share a few links for this week's Etsy post so you can continue to add to your collection of owls.  Isn't the skirt adorable?!  How about those tags?  They would be perfect for a birthday note on a present.  Happy Shopping!

DIY Reindeer Tag or Postcard

PAPER REINDEER POSTCARD
courtesy of Amy Moss

What you will need:
  • A4 Kraft card
  • A4 White, textured card
  • 4 craft brads
  • Double-sided tape
  • Scissors
  • 3mm (or smaller) circle craft punch
  • Color Printer
  • Postcard Back design (download PDF by clicking on link)
  • Paper Reindeer Postcard design (download PDF by clicking on link)
  • Hobby knife
  • Ruler
  • Cutting board
Instructions:
Download the 'Paper Reindeer Postcard' PDF from the link below and print out onto white card stock using a color printer. Using a pair of scissors, cut around the separate parts of the reindeer leaving some white around the edges. (Tip: You don't need to cut perfectly straight. In fact, a slightly irregular edge just creates a more whimsical, handmade feel.) Position the legs, antler and tail on the correct areas of the reindeer body and attach by punching holes and inserting and fastening craft brads. Cut out the 'happy holidays' banner, also leaving a white border around the edges.
Download the 'Postcard Back' PDF and print onto kraft card. Use a hobby knife, ruler and cutting board to cut to correct size.
Using double-sided tape, stick the banner to the bottom of the front of the postcard. Place a bit of double sided tape to the middle of the reindeer body to attach him to the center of your postcard.

Happy Weekend!

It's finally Friday!  This week went by really slow for me, but all is well for Friday is here.  And it's been a really good day so far - the weather is amazing outside (cold but sunny), my boyfriend is headed to town for five whole days, and 1001TTL is celebrating it's 100th post and first ever giveaway.  So, there are tons of things to celebrate and what better way to then heading to Wurstfest, a festival filled with sausage & beer.  What are your plans for the weekend?  Either way, I hope it's wonderful!

Happy Weekend

It's Halloween weekend, so it's going to be nuts these next few days.  My boyfriend and I have a birthday party tonight, a Halloween Housewarming Party tomorrow, I have to interview a local bakery owner for class on their laminated dough production, and then squeeze in some time for my honey & I to cuddle since a wave of cold air has come through Texas.  I seriously can not believe we are heading into November next week which means Thanksgiving & Christmas are just around the corner.  Soon there will be marshmallows roasting and carolers knocking...

I sincerely wish all of you a beautiful & fun-filled weekend!  Here are a few posts from around the web.
